Soruka
Sustainable and stylish, Soruka's gorgeous bags and purses are made from 100% recycled and leftover leather.
About Soruka
Spanish brand Soruka began in 2017 as a consequence of watching the environmental damage caused by the fashion industry. The idea was to create sustainable fashion without compromising on style or quality.
Leather waste in the fashion industry
With an estimated 500,000 tonnes of leather wasted every year, 60% of leather produced by the fashion industry heads to landfill and rivers, creating a huge environmental problem. This is what inspired Soruka to create their eco-friendly range.
Zero waste unique pieces
Soruka bags are made with premium recycled leather that has been wasted by factories (scrap and left-over leather) and rescued dead stock materials (leather that is no longer useful to companies so sold off before heading to landfill). Using every single part means nothing goes to waste and that each item is unique in its colour combination. Even the fabric bag that comes with your purchase is made from recycled saris.
In addition to the zero waste approach, the accessories are designed in a timeless style and not just for one season. The high quality of the leather and craftsmanship means the bags and purses will last as long as they are loved and add to the sustainable ethos of the brand.
How Soruka bags are made
Soruka bags and purses are designed in Barcelona and made in India. The manufacturing process involves little to no machinery, keeping the energy consumption low. Soruka works with small, independent artisans, creating jobs in low-income environments and preserving local craftsmanship. All artisans are trained adults and receive fair trade wages.
